Alabama's Sweetheart Lillian Aleece packs emotions into latest release "Wish"

Strong, smooth, and steady. These are words that immediately come to mind when listening to Lillian Aleece. The feelings that Lillian evokes from her unique sound are sensual to the tenth degree- and that’s not even addressing the complex control she holds in her voice. A voice, might I add, that is reminiscent of Erykah Badu herself- captivating with a message worth paying attention to.

Lillian’s latest single “Wish” is a love letter just as much as it is a yearning to sever a connection. Her approach to the well-known dynamic of an unhealthy and otherwise “toxic” relationship is incredibly vulnerable and gives an essence of hope for self-nourishment in the future.

Filled with regret and what she recites as being, “insecure and in love”, Lillian lists reason upon reason as to how the relationship inspiring this soothing melody is causing more harm than good. Yet she can’t seem to shake not only the thought but the full-blown reality of this person. There are the generalized five stages of grief that human beings are familiar with- and Lillian Aleece is painting a picture of the internal downfall she faces, experiencing anger, low-lows, and in a way bargaining with the pieces of her that can’t let go.

This piece leaves the listener wanting to learn what came of this couple, and more importantly what became of who Lillian sings in part for. We can wish the best for this person, but if their future is as bright and promising as Lillian's work, I have a feeling that they will be happier than they could attempt to imagine.
